Chosun Central News Agency (KCNA) reported yesterday that high officials from the Chosun Workers’ Party and their counterparts from the Communist Party of China held ‘strategic talks’ in Beijing on the 21st, the second such talks in the past year.
The talks were led by Chosun Workers’ Party International Secretary Kim Yong Il and Ambassador Ji Jae Ryeong with Wang Jiarui, who heads the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
KCNA declared, “Both countries, both parties exchanged views on the further development of friendly cooperative relations and mutual concerns,” going on to emphasize, “Dialogue was held in a comradely and friendly atmosphere.”
For the Chinese side, Xinhua News Agency reported the news on Saturday, saying, “Both sides, the Communist Party and Workers’ Party, exchanged detailed opinions on future interchanges between both countries and other international regional concerns.”
Yesterday, Kim also met with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo.
According to China Daily, the newspaper of the Communist Party of China, Kim told Dai that the “DPRK attaches great importance to friendship and cooperation with China” and that it will “follow the instructions by late General Secretary Kim Jong Il and First Secretary Kim Jong Eun of the Chosun Workers’ Party to make all-out efforts to advance the traditional DPRK-China friendship in a sustainable way.”
