[imText1]It was revealed that Vietnam closed 3 North Korean accounts: Daedong Credit Bank(DCB), Chosun Daesung Bank and Danchun Industry Bank.

During an phone interview with DailyNK on the 24th, a Japanese information source revealed that, “Recently the Vietnam government froze the accounts of 3 North Korean banks, DCB, Chosun Daesung Bank and Danchun Industry Bank. Each bank had financially traded with Vietnam Military Bank, Trade Bank and East-Asia Bank.

“A newspaper reported that North Korea moved its money related to WMD to Luxemburg Bank. In the meanwhile, the U.S government had traced the money related to the North Korean weapons of mass destruction(WMD). As the result, the government found out that the report was wrong, and it is watching for the Vietnam Military Bank”, informed the source.

Such an action of Vietnam was taken after vice-Minister Stuart Labby of the Department of the Treasury visited last July. The Vietnam Central Bank ordered the strict investigation in each commercial bank likely to be related to illegal money and illegal accounts.

President Nigel Cowie of DCB previously informed on the email sent to Head director Peter Beck of International Crisis Group (ICG) in Korea that from a few weeks Vietnam has closed North Korean accounts in its banks.
