S. Korea, Come under the N. Korea Umbrella and Throw away the U.S. Umbrella

[imText1]On the 12th, a critique “Following the path of the outside will lead to self-destruction” on the North Korean website “Uriminzokkiri (amongst Our Nation)” criticized South Korean military powers that are actively participating in the ‘Rim Pac-2006’ training. It indicated that there is no war on the Korean peninsula due to North Korea’s Military First Politics, and that South Korea is closely eyeing the fact that North Korea has gained control over the existence and public security of the Korean peninsula.

◆ Summary

– South Chosun (Korea) pro-war enthusiasts are participating in an unified military exercise dubbed ‘Rim Pac-2006’, a fantasized creation of a worldwide war of aggression by the U.S., complete with the thundering sounds of cannons. The most recent U.S. measures pushing towardsd war is the approval of vast amounts of funds to pioneer new U.S. weapons.

– If we did not employ our Military First Politics, there would have been outbreaks of more than a hundred wars, and an all-out war between North and South Korea from which the Korean peninsula would never recover. It is due to the power of our Military First Politics that people’s existence and public security are ensured, and why the South Chosun people are able to live under our close care, unaware of the possibilities of war even today.

◆ Explanation

There are two things that North Korea is ‘teaching’ South Korea through this critique.

One point of the critique is to raise an alarm to Korea-U.S. alliance and criticize South Korean participants of the ‘Rim Pac-2006’ training, and to threaten the current government as North Korea is anxious that the South Korean government will act upon North Korea sanctions resulting from the missile launch.

Another reason is to publicize that North Korea’s nuclear weapons and missiles will “Control war on the Korean peninsula”. After declaring possession of nuclear weapons last year, North Korea has been proclaiming that it will be responsible for South Korea’s security. It seems they are articulating that as South Korea is looking towards North Korea’s support, in a position of “National Cooperation”, South Korea should emerge from the U.S. umbrella and come under their umbrella instead.

This is to encourage South Korea to break away from its old alliance with the U.S. and move towards a more unified peninsula. It is to say that peace will be secured at the Korean peninsula by North Korea restraining the U.S. with their nuclear weapons and missiles, and all that South Korea needs to do is support North Korea and advance its economy.

This is the essence of what North Korea is illustrating with the statement of “National Cooperation”. North Korea is already envisioning this situation and wants to voice that North Korea possesses the military power, so if South Korea develops its economy and constructs a national community, then our country (North and South Korea) will become a “big, strong nation”.
