North Korea’s Workers’ Party Central Cadres Training School, which trains core party officials, marked its 78th anniversary June 1 by calling for strengthened faculty roles to produce cadres with both “loyalty” and “practical skills” who can earn Kim Jong Un’s trust.
A Daily NK source in North Korea said recently the Central Cadres Training School’s party committee held an internal meeting after regular studies in late May, emphasizing that “the core of cadre training lies in the faculty’s role” and demanding enhanced teaching effectiveness around the founding anniversary.
According to the source, the meeting stated that “the Central Cadres Training School, as the supreme political and ideological academy assigned by the party, must concentrate all efforts on cultivating practical cadres who will implement General Secretary Kim Jong Un’s strategies, not simply deliver knowledge.”
School announces changes in teaching methods
The meeting also signaled changes in overall teaching methods, with officials saying “our education’s purpose is to foster frontline revolutionaries who are absolutely loyal to the party and leader and execute the party’s strategies and tactics.”
The school’s party committee told faculty to move beyond theory-centered lectures and strengthen discussion-based classes examining policy implementation feasibility, mass leadership training and organizational work simulations.
The committee also ordered focus on improving teaching quality through standardized lecture materials, joint teaching seminars and faculty evaluation systems.
“Internally, the school emphasizes that faculty must have skills befitting representatives of party ideology,” the source said. “They’re required to thoroughly prepare as political subjects of the system, going beyond simple knowledge delivery.”
This appears to reflect determination to heighten faculty awareness and ideological commitment, strengthening the Central Cadres Training School’s role as a hub for producing “loyal, practical talent.”
Emphasis on loyalty to the leader
The source said that “these continued demands also aim to highlight that the Central Cadres Training School is at the forefront of upholding Kim Jong Un’s banner of cadre revolutionization.”
During special occasions like the founding anniversary, Central Cadres Training School students are assigned various tasks including event preparation, cleaning and facility management.
“There’s always an internal atmosphere that the school must be managed with the attitude of directly serving Kim Jong Un,” the source said.
Faculty also view this period as a time requiring special attention to educational environments and facility improvements, according to the source.
