Kim Jong Il’s Secret Road

[imText1]There is a secret road between Chansung district and Hyangsan district in North Pyongan province. This road is strictly controlled that citizen cannot use. Starting at North Sin Hyun town of Hyangsan district, the road is about 120km in length.

‘The secret road’ started to be built in 1987 and was finished in 1996, and has gone through three stages of construction. The road was constructed with the order of Kim Jong Il, for the safe escape of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and their family to China in case of a war. I took part in road construction for over two years.

At that time, the secretary of party in North Pyongan Province organized the ‘speed war charging unit’ from each of the factories, collective farms in every city and district. He arranged them to participate in the road construction. The first stage of the road construction was the one-way one-lane road of three meters in width. Round bends of the road followed the natural road to avoid the blitz in case of a war. Kim Jong Il, however, ordered to widen the road to be big enough for two cars to pass the road at once saying that the road was too narrow.

The second stage of the construction was to widen the breadth of the road to nine meters. As the road was constructed along the bank of the river, there were many bends and turns and hills to climb up the mountains. It was the best road to enjoy the view of the nature while riding car along the road.

After the second stage, soon after they cut the tape of ceremony for the completion of the road with the permission of head organization depart of the Central Party, Kim Il Sung Died. At that time, Kim Jong Il who was resting in Chang Sung Chalet heard this news and rushed to the Chalet of Kim Il Sung which was locate in Myohyang Mountain through this ‘secret road,’ which takes about in one hour and forty minutes. Kim Jong Il, who saw the death of Kim Il Sung, reproved the followers that “I would have seen the Dear Leader before he died, if only the road was set in a good condition,” in a fit of rage.

At this remark, the executives of the Workers Party said that “There are too many bends and turns, so it is dangerous to ride this road in a fast speed,” they overturned the road which they constructed with the mobilization of the citizens, and they started to straighten the road. They destroy all the bent valleys, cut down the mountains low, straightened the river banks, and invested three years of time and labor to build a road of the highest quality road.

This ‘secret road’ is a hidden way for ‘recapture’ (it is ‘run away’ actually but they use the word ‘recapture’) Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and their family in case of a war. This secret route uses train from Pyungyang to Hyang San district of North Sin Hyun, then connects to the ‘secret road’ by car to Changsung, where a car can travel at a high speed, and connects to China through a underground tunnel under the Aprok river through Kim Jong Il’s chalet, which is located in Changsung Yaksu town.

Escort Bureau (the bodyguards of Kim Jong Il) is in charge of the security with the selected guards who are from the cadre with high loyalty are patrolling in every section.

No car can pass, For Kim Jong Il’s use only

No car can pass this road. It is only Kim Jong Il who can use this road. The security guards will write down the registration number of the car, if a car is driven on the road, and the driver of the car will lose his position immediately no matter how high his position is.

In North Korea, no simple complaint or opinion is accepted. They only carry out orders to keep ideology formulated by the Party (Kim Il Sung throne ideology structure) and follow only one guidance from the Party.

In the business so called ‘serving business’, no matter how much money they have to spend, they have to fulfill the needs. If Kim Jong Il is not satisfied and tell to fix, they have to fix it whatever the reason is. In order to fulfill the capricious taste of Kim Jong Il, every people in North Korea have to fix it until he says ok.

The people in North Korea wasted nine years in constructing this “secret road,” along with all the materials wasted for building and rebuilding it. In North Korea, economic terms such as “technology economy calculation” do not make sense when it is something for the safety and satisfaction of the Kim dynasty. The highest quality must be guaranteed, the only common sense is “the principle of absolute.” The construction of the “secret road” was one of the typical examples of this principle.

The Kim dynasty. The last autocratic country existing on this planet. For how long will its well-being secured?
