[imText1]Some organizations including the following central organizations such as ‘Unification Coalition for Realized Joint Communique of 6.15 and Korean Peninsular Peace’ (Permanent Representative: Han Sang Ryeon) and National Special Committee for Inquiring an Actual State of U.S Military Crimes’ (Representative: Lee Jae Gyu) are pursuing a demonstrator dispatch during the ‘International Peace Expedition’ in Brussels, Belgium on the coming March 22th and 23th.
They published a slogan ‘Let’s go to Brussels if you want to keep the Korean peace’, announcing a demonstration in Brussels against defector hearings performed by the EU (23th) and an international conference for North Korea human rights done by international human rights organizations (22th).
The claim of the organizations can be summarized as follows ▲There is and can be no human rights abuses ▲ The U.S is maneuvering the international society into bringing up the North Korean human rights problems ▲ The U.S is seeking after an anti-North Korea policy through the human rights issue for its own hegemony policy ▲ Bringing up the North Korean human rights problem is hampering Korean peninsular peace and instigating war.
Their conclusion is for the EU and international organizations to raise their voices against the the U.S. manipulating the North Korean human rights issue and instigating a war on the Korean peninsula by following the U.S. It is the worst logic which is not even worthy of replying to.
It was natural for the EU Council to hold the North Korean hearings, which adopted resolutions for North Korean Human Rights in the U.N. General Assembly. At least for the human rights problem, the Europeans took an identical position, regardless of left or right wing. For example, some nations in the EU demanded improved conditions of diplomatic relations to North Korea, and are advocating democracy and the respect of human rights as an entry condition to the EU.
So, it does not make sense to claim that the EU, which is famous for having a voice independent of the U.S., is showing interest in the North Korean human rights problem because of the manipulation of the U.S. They insist stubbornly that the North Korean human rights issue, rising as a major issue in international society, is a political product of the U.S. Kim Jong Il would like to grant some gifts for it, but the Europeans will take it as an insult.
Korean Demonstrators, Only taken disgrace of ‘Anti-Human Rights Organizations’
They are claiming that the ‘Brussels International Convention for North Korean Human Rights’ is under organizations manipulated by the U.S. However, the Brussels International Convention will be jointly held by the ‘Human Rights Without Frontier’ of Belgium, ‘CSW’ of England, ‘Committee for helping North Koreans’ of France, and ‘Freedom House’ of the U.S. ‘Freedom House’ of the U.S is a private organization independent of the U.S government.
In this situation, what can the ‘International Peace Expedition’ do in Brussels, Belgium. Is it seriously problematic for the EU Council to hear about the reality of North Korean human rights through defectors? Why do they worry about the international NGO conventions concerned about North Korean human rights?
As they demonstrate in front of a building where the convention will be held, most of the bystanders who cannot imagine that the demonstrators would be South Koreans will consider them as North Korean ‘government demonstrators’. Yet, it is a mystery as to how they will react when coming to know that they are South Koreans. Now the South Korean government gets the eye from international society because it stayed away from the U.N. voting for North Korean human rights. Besides that, some of private organizations are about to take the disgrace of North Korean human rights organizations. Is this good?
Anti-North Korean human rights organizations such as the Unification Coalition always force taking only one choice, suggesting the ‘peace or war’ logic. This is a shallow, stubborn dichotomous logic which camouflages their threat. According to their logic, if one brings up North Korean human rights, he or she is a stool pigeon of the U.S or war advocate, otherwise if one is against North Korean human rights, he or she is a unification or peace advocate. That is all about their logic. They are trying to confine North Koreans’ lives and human rights into ‘a prison of peace’ which is their own manipulative logic. There remains a question as to how long they can keep the name of ‘peace advocates’, because they madly avoid the North Korean human rights issue.
This is one way the ‘International Peace Expedition’, which does not mention the North Korean human rights issue, can interrupt the conscientious, fair activities of the Europeans. It is that they themselves take the place of the North Korea human rights movement. ‘Unifications Coalition’, Stop counteracting the international society’s efforts to solve the North Korean human rights issue. Rather, seriously review a ‘North Korean Human Rights Expedition’ dispatch to North Korea.
