North to Get New Vehicle Parts Store

A company that currently assembles vehicles in North Korea is planning to open a showroom for the sale of vehicle parts at a location outside Pyongyang. The news was revealed in an announcement to potential inventors issued on October 22nd by the Dandong-based company, according to Radio Free Asia.

The company is planning to open the new 2,500㎡ showroom for the display and sale of parts on March 18th next year, the report explains.

The company promoting the project is the same one that entered into a joint venture (51%-49%) with North Korea’s Capital City Passenger Transit Bureau in September, 2009. The resulting joint venture company has been producing the 50-seater ‘Geumgang-san’ bus and a 30-ton ‘Cheonman-ri’ truck at a plant in Pyongyang under the name ‘Pyongyang Motor Co.’ since last year.
