“Minju Chosun (Democratic North Korea),” the publication of the North Korean Cabinet, raised an issue on the 16th stating that “The imperialists are misusing the human rights issue as their tool of invasion and of intervention [in North Korea].”

“Uriminzokkiri (Amongst Our Nation),” a North Korean Internet media outlet targeting South Koreans and foreigners, claimed on Thursday that “This is the imperialists attempt to forcefully impose their own sense of values to our country under the fraudulent slogan, “advocating human rights.”

It added that “Furthermore, they suggested the human rights issue as a precondition for improving relations between the two countries.”

The website claimed that “human rights as a universal value transcending borders,” asserted by the imperialists as their hypocritical tactic to excuse intervention in other country’s domestic affairs and to pressure, invade and overthrow independent governments.

“The western world powers including the U.S. are looking forward to an opportunity to invade independent countries under the pretext of the human rights issue. Defending firmly our sovereignty from the invasion of the imperialists is sincerely to advocate human rights,” released the website.

The U.S. Congress will pass the “North Korean Human Rights Act,” again including an item to amend the authority of the State’s Special Envoy for North Korean Human Rights in the upcoming session of Congress.

In the South Korean National Assembly Assemblymen from the Grand National Party, Hwang Woo Yea and Hwang Jin Ha, have also proposed the North Korean Human Rights Bill and are waiting upon its deliberation.
