“Kim Jong Il will not abandon its nuclear program, he can’t. He would rather choose reform and openness in the Chinese way than give up nuclear weapons.”
Hwang Jang Yop, President of the Committee for the Democratization of North Korea said on 25th in his lecture broadcasted on Free North Korea Broadcasting (Free NK). “Kim Jong Il has a strong will to sustain his position as a supreme leader of North Korea. In order to gain what he want, Kim Jong Il would rather choose reform and openness of North Korea like China than abandon nukes” Hwang said.
“The U.S. and its allies should force the denuclearization of North Korea in order to bring about regime change, reform and openness,” Hwang said. “It is only because South Korea supports the North that Kim Jong Il regime still can cling doggedly to their nuclear weapons.” Hwang insisted.
“The nuclear issue can be resolved naturally, once North Korea opens its door and reforms its system. The biggest obstacle is Kim Jong Il regime. We should cure the bad roots of the tree first, not simply discard the bad fruits on it,” Hwang indicated.
“Kim Jong Il is so self-centered that he will never use nuclear weapons. If he used it, do you believe that the U.S. could possibly remain still?” Hwang asked to the audience. “Once this decision is made, North Korea will get a sever retaliation from the U.S., Japan and South Korea, which North Korea cannot stand against.” Hwang said.
“China is also against the war. In these global circumstances, North Korea cannot develop its nuclear plan farther. The U.S. should use nuclear issue as a lever to alienate Kim Jong Il regime.” said Hwang.
“Denuclearization of North Korea is intrinsically the problem of eradicating violence and propagating peace in the world.” said Hwang. Hwang also stated that since this is one of the main tasks for democratizing the world, the U.S. cannot be the only bearer.
“The United State is organizing the movement to reject the nuclear program in North Korea. It is not easy to persuade other countries to believe that this plan is reasonable and effective” Hwang said.
“This action can occur infringement of sovereignty issues in another country. However, this intervention can be adopted if it can serve the benefit of people in the world and spread peace and democracy into the world” Hwang said.
