“If those traitors (South Korea) continue to defame our dignity despite our repeated warnings, we will have no choice but to come to a serious decision to cut all ties with South Korea.”

North Korea’s Rodong Sinmun said today in an article called “We Will Bring an End with the Ones That Dream Foolish Fantasies” that “Everyone has been concerned and closely paying attention to what is happening with North-South relations ever since South Korea’s conservative power was first inaugurated.”

The Rodong Sinmun had previously censured the Lee administration by calling it a “group of traitors” last April when North Korea began taking more aggressive measures toward South Korea. This type of offensive editorial, the first one in 7 months, draws attention to what measures North Korea could take.

The editorial criticized the Lee administration saying that “Lee’s defeated administration is viciously challenging with anti-republic showdowns in collusion with foreign powers along with its anti-reunification policy despite domestic and international warnings and concerns.”

“This traitors’ party is stubbornly promoting anti-nationalistic ‘Vision 3000: Denuclearization and Openness’, covering it with fancy names such ‘mutual prosperity’ or ‘common-fame’ despite domestic and international opposition” it added.

The Rodong Sinmun further expressed its dissatisfaction by saying “The puppet government (referring to the Lee administration) is not only slandering the historical June 15 Joint Declaration and October 4 Agreement that were supported by the whole nation and the world but is also interfering in the process of carrying the declarations out.”

“Due to Lee administration’s anti-republic showdowns, a June 15 generation (referring to the Kim Dae Jung and Roh Moo Hyun administrations’ era when it was influenced by the first Inter-Korean Summit) which opened possibilities of independent reunification and prosperity of peace is now insultingly labeled as ‘a lost decade’ by negating all basic principles and fundamental rules of reunification. All the declarations made between the North and the South are now being annulled.”

“Lawless brutal situations are happening in which the patriotic progressive power that sought reunification during the June 15 generation is now a target of oppression via vicious national security laws” it further added.

The Rondong Sinmun insisted that the theory which “considers North Korea the main enemy is reappearing in South Korea, and materials related to reunification and history textbooks are changing towards propagating same-nation-confrontation ideas and a sense of anti-communism is being installed even in children’s comic books”.

“In collusion with the U.S. military, Northward invasion war preparations that include anti-communism farces are continuously happening.”

“The government, the puppet military, the Ministry of Unification and even the National Intelligence Service are brought out to urge people to prepare for wars such as an all-out war, a local war, or a special war. These war preparations are plated out in real-time in the joint military exercises of the U.S. and South Korea.”

It emphasizes that “due to the defeated Lee administration’s thoughtless anti-republic strategies and schemes, not only all ties between the North and South are cut but the relations have gotten worse and now are facing a violently turbulent tipping point.”

“They are trying to worsen the situation by devising schemes such as the female-spy case and egoistically halting the tourism to Mt. Geumgang by claiming the tourist incident as an excuse though the fault is their own.”

The Rodong Sinmun emphasized the steadfastness of the ‘military-first regime’ as if it were acknowledging the rumors surrounding Kim’s health.

“Our nation steadily lived on for 60 years without even being slightly affected by attempts made by imperialists such as the U.S. to destroy us with their combined nations’ isolation plot. Today, the world is now aware of our nation’s ‘military-first’ dignity and greatness.”

“Our nation with the great ‘military-first’ guidance will powerfully march towards building a strong nation utilizing our steadfast wholehearted unity. With our hopeful ambition, we will raise a storm through miracles and progress, creation and revolution on this land.”

“If the situation worsens as both the South and North have the military power prepared and ready, then the situation can escalate into military clashes or even war. This lesson reflects the reality of the Korean peninsula and is what the history of world wars has shown” the Rodong Sinmun warned the South Korean government.
