“NK Malnourished Pregnent Women Give Birth to Infants with an IQ of below 80”

[imText1]It has recently been learned that due to the malnutrition of pregnant women, births of infants with an IQ below 80 are increasing.

In their latest newsletter, Good Freinds, an organization supporting North Korea, said that, “Because of the malnutrition of pregnant women, the brains of infants are not developing sufficiently, and the rate of intellectually disabled infants is increasing”.

Particularly, “Pregnant women who are living in remote and secluded areas in the mountains come down with iodine deficiency syndrome since they do not have the opportunity to eat seaweed or kelp in such areas. The deficiency causes infants to have an IQ of below 80”, said Good Freinds.

The newsletter pointed out that, “The degree that North Korean children are malnourished, and physically less developed is extremely serious”.

Subsequently, “Aid from the U.N. and Korean NGOs provide at least some nutrition to North Korean children, yet it is not enough. As a result, the children are seriously malnourished and underdeveloped”, expressed the newsletter.

The newsletter informed readers that, “Although some lucky children in preschools and nursery schools have access to at least one meal a day thanks to food aid from the U.N., a significant portion of the food is distributed to others. Preschools that cannot provide lunch to children send children home for lunch, and they return to school after 2 pm”.
