Exercise Finishes, No NK Response

Today’s live fire artillery exercise on Yeonpyeong Island, the scene of last month’s deadly attack by the North Korean military, has apparently gone off without a hitch.

The exercise began at 2:30 PM and lasted for one hour and thirty minutes.

According to reports, the exercise was originally scheduled to have been completed by 3:30PM, but was extended in order to complete all the scheduled activities.

Part of preparations to defend against future attacks such as the November 23rd shelling, the exercise was conducted using 81mm and 105mm self-propelled artillery, including the K-9, the same kind of artillery piece which responded to the November 23rd attack.

Up to and including the time of the end of the exercise, there were no unusual movements on the part of the North Korean military in the environs of Yeonpyeong Island.
