[imText1]International conference for democracy in North Korea and Burma, known as most notorious despotic states, will be held inviting activists and experts from both countries.
Commemorating 20th anniversary of June Resistance, a talk titled “the Spirit of South Korean Democratization towards Asia and the Future” will be held on the 26th in association with Burmese-National League for Democracy Korea Branch, Korea Graduate School for international relationship and Open Radio for North Korea.
Numbers of Burmese democracy activists will take part in the forum and the participants are including Kyaw Swa Linn, defected to South Korea in 2000 as threatened to be jailed due to his pro-democracy activity, Nay Tun Naing, a manager of Burmese National League and Zaw Moe Aung, a chief editor of Burma News Journal.
Korean participants are including Kang Cheol Hwan, North Korean defector, Seo Chang Rok, a director at Korea Graduate school for International relationship. Kim Young Hwan, an editor at the Zeitgeist, Hong Jin Pyo, executive director of Liberty Union, Ha Tea Kyung, a president at Open Radio for North Korea, Cho Min, a senior researcher at Korea Institute for National Unification and Lee Kwang Baik, a researcher at Network for North Korean Democracy and Human Rights (NKnet).
These guests will debate upon perspective and strategy for democracy in North Korea and Burma, which have been suffering from the severest dictatorship in Asia. Especially, it is anticipated that defectors and Burmese pro-democracy activists will brainstorm in-depth plan for democracy in North Korea through the example of Burmese democracy movement.
