Daily NK Attacked over Love for Kim

Propaganda outlet ‘Uriminzokkiri’ has accused South Korean news organizations including Daily NK of distorting the truth about the North Korean people’s love for Kim Jong Eun.

On the 11th, the propaganda website, which is run by North Korea’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, said via Twitter, “South Korean media ‘Daily NK’ and ‘Herald Economy’ are saying all kinds of rude things about how the endless love and benevolence given to us by our great leader Kim Jong Eun is ‘fake’; they are trying to distort the truth of his love for the people.”

Daily NK has repeatedly analyzed public appearances made by Kim Jong Eun, explaining that the affection he is seen showing to the people is designed to burnish his credentials as a leader.

Uriminzokkiri criticized this analytical frame, saying, “It is because they are horrified by the mighty power of the leader and the people who are together achieving great power and single-minded unity in moving forward to a brighter future. The rash behavior of Daily NK et al. is an ugly attempt to try and stop the blooming of sentiment leaning toward the Republic.”

“Public opinion leaning towards the North poses as a great source of anxiety to the South Korean conservative gang. No matter how much the conservative gang gossips about us, the unity of our Republic will not be shaken and nothing will stand in the way of our adoration for our leader,” it went on.

Daily NK is regularly attacked by North Korean propaganda outlets targeting the South and even in the domestic North Korean media as well. In a recent example on January 28th this year, a commentary carried by Rodong Shinmun declared, “The mere handful of anti-Republic trash in south Chosun is getting all excitable as it plots… the most extraordinary is Daily NK.”
