Border at Kaesong Reopened

Following the safe completion of yesterday’s live fire artillery exercise on Yeonpyeong Island in the West Sea, the South Korean government decided to lift its total ban on entry into the Kaesong Industrial Complex.

According to a brief government statement at the time, “The Unification Ministry has decided to allow a limited number of South Koreans to visit the Kaesong industrial complex.”

The decision was apparently taken with the interests of the companies in mind.

Therefore, 466 South Koreans were due to visit Kaesong on Tuesday, in comparison to the 614 who were scheduled to enter on Monday, but could not. 438 were due to return to South Korea.
