500T of flood relief aid will be dispatched to North Korea on the 11th.
The Ministry of Unification released the news today, saying, “We have granted permission for the transfer of 500T of wheat flour for the purpose of flood relief, as requested by World Vision.” The flour worth KRW250 million will be sent north to Kaesong via Dorasan Inter-Korea Transit Office, then on to Anju and Kaecheon in South Pyongan Province.
A ministry official added, “World Vision agreed the distribution plan with the North and then submitted it to us. Their distribution breakdown satisfied the conditions, so it was approved.”
Korea NGO Council for Cooperation with North Korea, a coalition of 51 domestic humanitarian aid groups, is currently engaged in the provision of a further 1000T of wheat flour for flood relief.
