SK Military Warns North against Acting on Threats

South Korea today issued a stark warning to Pyongyang, saying that any attempt to actually carry out its “preemptive nuclear strike” threat will lead directly to its own destruction.

A Ministry of National Defense spokesperson, Kim Min Seok made the comments in a regular briefing, explaining, “If North Korea attacks South Korea with nuclear weapons then by the will of South Korea and all humanity the Kim Jong Eun regime will perish from this earth.”

“Nuclear weapons have been used twice in order to end a world war, but if they were to attack South Korea with a nuclear weapon now then humanity would not forgive them,” he added.

However, he did then go on to add that this is not a likely outcome, noting, “[North Korea’s remarks about a pre-emptive strike] are one type of threat and intimidation against South Korea.”

Kim also commented on Kim Jong Eun’s recent visit to the unit responsible for the Yeonpyeong Island shelling in 2010, a visit that was reported today in the North Korean domestic media. Saying that the story is designed to display Kim’s willingness to attack South Korea, he reiterated, “If North Korea provokes us again we will punish them mercilessly.”
