Five men accused of spying for North Korea have been handed severe sentences for their involvement in the so-called ‘Wangjaesan incident’.

Seoul Central District Court today sentenced the man charged with forming the spy group ‘Wangjesan’, Kim (49), to nine years imprisonment and suspended his qualifications for another nine years.

Three others were sentenced to five to seven years in prison. A fifth man, Yoo, was given two years imprisonment and three years probation.

However, the charge that Kim organized an anti-state organization, ‘Wangjaesan’, was dismissed for lack of evidence.
