Radio Free Asia has picked up on photos carried by an unofficial Facebook page covering Air Koryo, noting that a new terminal building at Pyongyang Sunan Airport has been completed and put into service.

The new terminal, which entered service in July, is of a much simpler design to the original terminal building but features, the page announces, “modernized facilities for luggage, security, customs, border control,” but without a mural of Kim Il Sung on the outer façade.

The new terminal is apparently in use while the North Korean authorities revamp the original terminal in preparation for 2012, according to tour operator Koryo Tours.

Meanwhile, state airline Air Koryo is also slowly upgrading both its airplanes and route map, the latter of which was severely degraded by the collapse of the Eastern Bloc but has recently grown to incorporate flights to Kuala Lumpur and Kuwait City, and more regular flights to stock destinations such as nearby Shenyang.
