Return to the Six-Party Talk on November

[imText1]On the 31st, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the U.S, China and N. Korea agreed to resume the six-party talk soon.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed on a website (http://www.fmprc.gov.cn/chn/) that China arranged an informer meeting with N. Korea and the U.S and on the same day they agreed to resume the six-party talk in a convenient time and as soon as possible.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that, “Each chief delegate from three countries showed their straight, deep opinions regarding the resume of the six-party talk.”

Quoting what Christopher Hill, Assistant Secretary of the U.S, said related to this, AFP News reported that, “N. Korea did not make conditions on the resume of the six-party talk.” Assistant Secretary Hill said that, “What countries they are, no condition on the six-party talk itself is very important.”

Also, on the same day he stated that, “I believe that the six-party talk will be held in November or December”, and “N. Korea confirmed the agreement that was made in the September six-party talk last year saying the denuclearization of the Korean peninsular and the renouncement of nuclear weapons.

The participants were Christopher Hill, Assistant Secretary of the U.S, Wu Dawei, Vice Minister of the Foreign Affairs of China, and Kim Kye Gwan, Vice Minister of North Korean Foreign Affairs, and Wu Dawei mediated their negotiation.

The Six-party talk to solve the N. Korea nuclear problem has not been held for 13 months since the 4th talk and 9.19 Joint Statement made on September.

It was know that on the 18th Kim Jong Il said to State Minister Tang Jiaxuan who stayed in Pyongyang as a special envoy of Chinese President Hu jintao that, “Unless great, unfair pressures are imposed from outside, we will not do additional nuclear experiments”.
