Chosun Shinbo, the publication put out by the pro-Pyongyang Federation of Korean residents in Japan (Chongryon), reported on the 3rd that North Korea is seeking to join the International Paralympic Committee, and plans to join the 2012 London Paralympics. If it happens, next year will be the first time North Korea will have taken part in the games.

Chosun Shinbo cited the former ‘Queen of Table Tennis’, Secretary-General of the Chosun Federation of Disabled Sports Lee Boon Hui, in reporting the news.

Lee Boon Hui played with Hyun Jung Hwa (who is now executive director of the Korea Table Tennis Association) on a victorious united Korean team at the 1991 World Table Tennis Championship Games in Chiba, Japan,

In January last year, Chosun Shinbo first reported that the Chosun Federation of Disabled Sports, which operates under the auspices of the Chosun Federation for the Protection of the Disabled, was actively seeking to join the International Paralympic Committee.
