With only 45 days left until the South Korean presidential election, North Korea dropped any pretence to nuance on Saturday, declaring that the South Korean people “must never permit the gentries of the Saenuri Party to return to power under any circumstances.”
The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland emphasized in a piece carried by Chosun Central News Agency on the 3rd that, “The Saenuri Party is catastrophic for the people and the source of all troubles. The presidential election must be used as an opportunity to change the regime at last.”
“If the Saenuri Party takes power, South Chosun society and inter-Korea relations will not only end up just as they did under the Lee Myung Bak regime, but the Yushin dictatorship will be resurrected and there will clearly only be fascist oppression and war,” it warned.
