60th Anniversary Oath to Kim Jong Il

North Korea’s key governmental organizations sent congratulatory notes to Kim Jong Il, as de facto oaths of loyalty, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean regime on September 9.

The National Defense Commission, the Central Committee of the Chosun (North Korea) Workers Party, the Central Military Commission of the Party, the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly and the Cabinet pledged their intention to “strengthen our self-defense and achieve final victory against America at Armageddon.”

This is unprecedented because the five organizations had hitherto only sent congratulatory notes to Kim Jong Il on his 60th and 65th birthdays, but never on the anniversary of the founding of the regime.

Chosun Central Broadcasting reported the five organizations’ loyalty oaths while irregular troops such as the Worker and Peasant Red Guard and the Red Youth Guard prepared for the celebratory parade at around 4PM.

The oath stated that “The Military-first leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Il supplied the restraint needed to produce benefits and to solidify the national right to live and to protect our peace and security.”

The oath featured a number of ceremonial expressions, including, “Comrade Kim Jong Il, with noble patriotic spirit and distinguished governing ability, is leading the Republic (North Korea) forward wisely to victory and glory.”

It emphasized that “the principle that the socialist fatherland can exist and the future of our powerful nation will be bright as long as Comrade Kim Jong Il exists as the General is engraved on our minds.”

“The belief and the will of the military and the people is to support the ideology and leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Il, relying entirely on the great Kim Jong Il; the future, the glory and the victory of the Military-first Chosun,” it concluded.
