Kaesong Talks End on a Sour Note

Today’s sixth round of inter-Korean working-level talks ended moments ago at the Kaesong Industrial Complex. The two sides were unable to reach agreement, and it appears unlikely that there will be a seventh round of dialogue in the near future.

The meeting ended at around 5:20PM (local time) following a number of afternoon rounds of face-to-face talks between the heads of the North and South Korean delegations, and ended on a ten-minute closing meeting.

Immediately following the end of the official meeting schedule, the North Korean delegation reportedly sought out a room reserved for the use of the South Korean Joint Reporters’ Group on the 4th floor of the meeting location. There, they made clear their stance on the outcome of the talks, ignoring South Korean efforts to prevent them from doing so.
