Lee Myung Bak Words Are Mere Tactics

The North Korean Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland has issued a denouncement of South Korean President Lee Myung Bak’s addresses during his recent European trip, “It was provocative and slanderous to call our system and nuclear programs into question so viciously. Its contents were so lacking in common sense.”

In an interview article with a spokesperson for the Committee released by the Rodong Shinmun on Thursday, it asserted, “The person who is relying more and more on foreign powers is the rebel Lee Myung Bak.”

President Lee Myung Bak sent a number of messages to North Korea in interviews with European media and summits with various leaders during his July 6 to 13 trip, calling on Pyongyang to abandon nuclear weapons, open the door and reform its system. Additionally, he put forward the suspicion that South Korean aid has been misused in nuclear missile development and put forward a negative stance on providing cash directly to the North for any reason.

Regarding these addresses, the Committee asserted, “It is a ludicrous tactic to pull such countries into anti-Republic (North Korea) nuclear games, sanctions and maneuvers while avoiding the responsibility for the failure of his policies.”

In South Korea, Head of the Democratic Party Chung Sye Kyun also criticized President Lee in a similar manner at a general meeting of Assembly members on the 9th, saying the President was trying to “cover his inability to deal with inter-Korean issues.”
