[imText1]Singer Lee Kwang Pil, goodwill ambassador for the Association of Families of those Abducted and Detained in North Korea, conducted a solo demonstration on June 10th in Seoul City Hall Plaza to urge people to solve the “abduction issue.”

Lee said he was motivated to protest by recent the mad cow rallies saying, “The candlelight rally has turned a beef and FTA issue into an overthrow President Lee issue. I am opposing the abstract blending of issues at mass demonstrations.”

He also clearly stated that “I oppose the fact that participants in the rallies are bringing about traffic congestion and embellishing a lawless chaotic event with the appearance of a cultural festival.”

He came to City Hall Plaza on hearing that conservative organizations were holding a gathering in opposition to the mass candle rally. His core demands are still the resolution of the abduction issue and the repatriation of his friend Lee Jae Hwan, who was kidnapped by North Korea.

During the demonstration performance some people brought beverages to him as he was passionately singing self-penned songs about the abduction issue, but some others protested at his performance.

Lee stated to them, “I am doing it legally, unlike you who invade roads illegally. I will go back to my place after three hours spent showing my opinion through performance.”

Wrapping up his solo demonstration he said that, “There has been a period of trial and error since the Lee administration was launched. Now, it is about time for the people to watch and wait, to see what the President will do because he must already have listened to the voice of the people.”
