No Family for Kim on Midnight Visit

At midnight on February 16th, Kim Jong Eun and
other members of the North Korean leadership paid their respects to the embalmed
corpses of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in Pyongyang. All were dressed in military uniforms, with the exception of Kim himself.

Both Chosun Central TV and Chosun Central News Agency (KCNA)
reported on the event, which takes place every year.

However, unlike in February 2013, when Kim Jong Eun’s wife
Ri Sol Ju and aunt Kim Kyong Hui both joined him in commemorating Kim Jong Il’s birth, this year Kim was alone at the head of the “military-first” delegation.

KCNA noted the attendance of, in order:  Choe Ryong Hae, the head of the General
Political Department of the KPA, Chief-of-Staff Ri Yong Gil, Minister of the
People’s Armed Forces Jang Jong Nam, as well as military vice-ministers and departmental
heads Pyon In Son, So Hong Chan, Kim Su Gil, Ryom Chol Song. Nobody else was named.
