The propaganda arm of North Korea’s Committee for Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, “Uriminzokkiri” today attacked the organizers of the upcoming 3rd North Korean Human Rights Film Festival by name.
The article, published anonymously in the name of a “south Chosun problem researcher,” described the principle organizer of the film festival, NKnet, as “villainous anti-Republic confrontation fanatics to a man,” and the rationale behind the film festival, “changing people’s awareness of Northern human rights and bringing about human rights improvement and unification,” as a mere “sophistry.”
The piece also criticized a number of the key figures behind NKnet by name, including Chairman Yu Sae Hee, President Han Ki Hong, and Senior Researcher Kim Young Hwan. Hong Jin Pyo, a controversial member of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, and Kim Sung Min, the founder of Free NK Radio, were also singled out for attack.
The move comes just a day after the same propaganda website described a list of individual South Korean journalists and media groups as “vicious, extreme-right reactionaries who remain ever-ready to plot against the North with lies and falsities.”
