[imText1]Early August, 3 border security guards of Hoiryeong, North Hamkyung province were found to have been executed indoors.

An inside source in North Korea revealed in a phone interview on the 28th that “Large-scale operations are underway by the National Defense Committee to inspect regions of the border. In the progress, 3 border security noncommissioned officers received military trial and sentenced to indoor execution.”

The source informed that the officers were charged with ‘Conspiracy of hiding army prisoners to send to South Korea’ and that inspectors imputed the suspicion that these army prisoners were spies during the Korean War.

The source said “The officers are under strict regulation as the team from National Defense found they were helping people cross the river after receiving ransom. This case is particularly severe as the officers were conspiring with army prisoners and is being considered as a political affair.”

The source said that as a result, crossing the river in the districts of Hoiryeong has become virtually extinct and even the vicinity of the Tuman River has become quiet. However, communicating between North Korea and China are still occurring.

Rumors are already spreading throughout the country that around the districts of Shinuiju and Hoiryeong teams from the National Defense are coming directly to areas of the North Korea-China boarder to personally inspect defectors crossing. (DailyNK report August 16th)

In order to impede infiltration of foreign culture as well as secure raised alarm of the number of casualties from the flood disaster and the passing of the U.N. North Korea resolution following the missile launch, the team from the National Defense appears to be taking measures to prevent the defector situation from becoming large-scale.
