At the “Tongseop politico-economic forum” former President Kim Young Sam said in his speech regarding the South-North bilateral talks and 4 countries’ summit talks, “The influence of talking has now passed and the possibility rather low. There is no more to say on this.”

Former President Kim expressed, “The embarrassing thing is that people are going to all these efforts to take photos with not even Kim Jong Il, but his second in charge (Kim Young Nam, chairperson of the Supreme People’s Assembly). I do not understand how South Korean politicians have become like this.”

Regarding the case surrounding the Grand National Party, he said, “I believe that all things will be resolved in the end” and urged, “Some people fear that the party will split, but that doesn’t happen easily.”

He added, “Every time there is an election in our country, there is a lot of talk and commotion. Never has there been a quiet election” and said, “Creating a fuss and then solving the issues may actually gather greater support from the people.”

Former President Kim’s words come at a time where there are rumors suggesting that the polls are leaning towards former Seoul city mayor Lee Myung Bak. Former President Kim suggests that having mayhem prior to an election may in the end serve as an advantage.
