NORAD: Possible Satellite Success

North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), the organization charged with aerospace warning and control for the United States and Canada, has released a statement suggesting that North Korea may indeed have succeeded in putting a satellite into orbit this morning, as claimed by the North Korean state media.

According to the statement, “The missile was tracked on a southerly azimuth. Initial indications are that the first stage fell into the Yellow Sea. The second stage was assessed to fall into the Philippine Sea. Initial indications are that the missile deployed an object that appeared to achieve orbit.”
