[imText1]Yanji, China — On March 27, a group of soldiers robbed a house nearby the birthplace of Kim Jong Suk (Kim Jong Il’s biological mother) in Hoiryeong of North Hamkyung Province. The incident greatly disturbed the authorities of the city.
The house is located right next to the birthplace of Kim Jong Sook known as the Mother of the North Korean people, and the robbery was reported directly to Kim Jong Il.
“On the dawn of March 27, a group of seven soldiers who look like border guards, entered the house of Pak In Sun at Dongmyong-dong 2-ban in Hoiryeong City after prying open the door of the house with a lever. They hit Mr. Pak with a blunt object and knocked him down. Then, they gagged and tided up Mrs. Pak and her son who were begging for life and robbed the house,” said Kim Chul (52, pseudonym) in an interview with a Daily NK reporter on April 5. Kim Chul was visiting relatives in Yanji, China.
Kim said, “The incident disturbed the Hoiryeong Public Security Agency and the Border Garrison, and both are under investigation.”
“The birthplace of Kim Jong Suk is patrolled by security agents day and night, and continues to be guarded by the ‘Workers’ Patrols.’ Therefore, it is almost impossible to rob its neighborhood. Individuals who look suspicious are not allowed to enter the neighborhood. If they do, they can be arrested and questioned by the authorities,” Kim said.
Kim said, “Those soldiers took away from the house a Japanese used bike, an electronic heater, some clothes and the entire stock of food. Mr. Park is seriously wounded with his ribs and arm broken and his head injured. He is being treated at a hospital.”
“I heard that the People’s Safety Agency in Hoiryeong and the Border Garrison received a reprimand from Pyongyang because the robbery took place at such a heavily guarded area and they failed to arrest the robbers,” Kim said.
Kim also spoke of rising discontent among the people of Hoiryeong. “Last December, the chief of a branch office of the Safety Agency in Manghyang-ri ran over an electrician with his motorbike. The chief was under the influence of alcohol at that time. However, he has never been tried for the killing but went about freely. Many local people resent about the incident.”
Kim said, “The chief is a depraved man. This man goes the rounds of the houses of widows or good-looking women in his neighborhood. He has drugged and raped many women in this way abusing his power. Unfortunately, no one in Hoiryeong can touch him as he has a brother who holds a high position in the central Party. He has never been inspected either. So, many local people are complaining about this. ”
Kim said, “Without power, you are nothing in this world. No matter how many times the state conducts inspections, the powerful can manage to get away from punishment, which is unthinkable to those without power.”
