[imText1]Unification Minister Lee Jae Jung who is representing South Korea at the 20th South-North High Level Cabinet Talks revealed on the 1st, \u201cThough there may be some glitches in achieving an agreement for each case, in the bigger picture, it should not be too difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n
Minister Jung made these remarks at a press briefing on the 4th day of the Cabinet Talks held at Koryo Hotel in Pyongyang, and stressed that the recent talks had been conducted with the focal aim of close examination and establishing systematic regularity.<\/p>\n
He said that the results of the examinations and systematization could only be ascertained after the Cabinet Talks was complete and said that the fundamental basis of the talks was to solve ways that would propel the six party talks strategies. <\/p>\n
Regarding whether or not the Cabinet Talks aspired to segregate the different political issues, Minister Lee responded \u201cWe must not surrender the framework of the talks even if a political conflict does occur\u201d and \u201cWe must create a motive to continue solving this political issue and take on this role. We stressed this at the recent talks.\u201d<\/p>\n
When questioned whether discussions on strategy had been made at the talks, he responded that the representatives of the two parties had begun discussions and hence hastening the speech of the talks was unnecessary. He did reveal that a fundamental agreement had been made in regards to the basic direction of the talks. <\/p>\n
In regards to whether the South Korean delegates had made any concessions, the minister said that reciprocal compromises would be desirable. He motioned that the fundamental basis was to conduct the talks in ways that were necessary to the peace of the Korean Peninsula and said that these notions would provide the standard of the talks.<\/p>\n
Then he said \u201cTomorrow, the airplane will take off at its scheduled time\u201d suggesting that the planned agenda for the talks would be completed within the set time frame. <\/p>\n
In addition to this, Minister Lee informed that a member of the North\u2019s highest standing committee Chairman Kim Young Nam, had expressed in a meeting that the most important factor was to cooperatively implement the 2.13 Agreement which stated that preliminary measures would be carried out truthfully. <\/p>\n
In regards to this comment, an affiliate of the talks informed that Chairman Kim had said that the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula was Kim Il Sung\u2019s teachings and revealed that all efforts would be made to ensure this was made possible.<\/p>\n
The affiliate also informed of Chairman Kim\u2019s focus on strengthening national mutual aid as well as recognizing the significance of June 15 Mutual Declaration, and talks on the need for South-North authorities to unite forces.<\/p>\n
On the last night, South-North representatives participated in a farewell dinner at the Koryo Hotel. At this gathering, the head of North Korea Kwon Ho Woong said \u201cIf the two parties efficiently implement all the issues discussed at the recent talks, the North-South relationship will take an epochal turn with opportunities for greater channels.\u201d <\/p>\n
Minister Lee responded by saying \u201cThe time we have spent today discussing the talks will be recorded as a peacemaking and cooperative event in our nation\u2019s history\u201d and stressed \u201cIn order to change our vision from a wide historical gap to tomorrow\u2019s hopeful milestone, we must make all attempts to maintain our framework.\u201d<\/p>\n
