In a lecture sponsored by Korea Development Institute on Friday, the former National Defense Advisor of President Roh Moo Hyun expected the current North Korean nuclear crisis, even if settled temporarily, would haunt South Korea in the future. <\/p>\n
\u201cNorth Korea\u2019s nuclear weapons development is now almost completed despite of millions of death and international pressure,\u201d Kim argued \u201cand it will not give up the weapons easily.\u201d <\/p>\n
On Pyongyang\u2019s decision to come back to the six-party talks, Kim firmly stated \u201cIt won\u2019t work.\u201d It was because of China, Kim added, that since China was \u201chappy\u201d with troublemaking North Korea to some extent. <\/p>\n
\u201cChina improved its international standing after North Korea\u2019s nuclear test\u201d Kim analyzed. Also, the former senior official defined the nuclear strategy of North Korea as \u201chistoric,\u201d and it could have never done it without South Korea\u2019s Sunshine policy and Chinese toleration. <\/p>\n
On future North Korean policy, Kim affirmed that solution of current crisis was not possible unless North Korea\u2019s \u201cabnormal\u201d regime was changed. \u201cNorth Korean leaders rule the country without any accountability and there is no hope with such system\u201d Kim said. <\/p>\n
\u201cHow much longer are we going to let numerous people starve to death and infants get killed in front of their mothers in political prisoners\u2019 camps?\u201d asked Kim. <\/p>\n
