\nKwon Eun Kyoung, recently received \u201cKorea\u2019s Human Rights Award,\u201d presented by the
\nNational Human Rights Commission of Korea in Seoul, becoming the fourth
\nactivist for North Korean human rights to receive the prestigious award.<\/span><\/p>\n
\n10th for the 66th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and
\npresented ten individuals and five groups with the award.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nUN\u2019s Commission of Inquiry on Human Rights in North Korea and providing support
\nin the body\u2019s research, using mechanisms within the U.N. to improve the rights
\nof North Koreans.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nindividuals who have contributed to furthering human rights both domestically
\nand internationally. Recipients among activists for North Korea so far have
\nbeen Yoon Hyun, founder and chairman of Citizens\u2019 Alliance for North Korean
\nHuman Rights in 2010; Rep. Ha Tae Kyung of the ruling Saenuri Party [head of
\nOpen Radio for North Korea at the time of receiving the award] in 2011; and Kim
\nYoung Hwan, senior researcher at Network for North Korean Democracy and Human
\nRights [NKnet] in 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nKorea to the International Criminal Court [ICC] was included in the human
\nrights draft resolution shows that the international community has a shared
\nunderstanding about the problems in the North,\u201d this year\u2019s recipient, Kwon,

\nKwon said. \u201cLast month, when the UN Third Committee passed the draft
\nresolution, [lawmakers] made a fuss as if they were going to pass the bill here
\nby the end of this year. But now, they\u2019re all quiet, like it never happened,\u201d
\nshe said, criticizing the South Korean National Assembly.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nevent, wherein she said, \u201cThe Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a
\nbeautiful promise made by mankind to ensure humans universally can rightly so
\nlive like human beings.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
\nare so poor that it\u2019s beyond explanation,\u201d the president also said, adding
\n\u201cPlease all work together so that everyone living on the Korean Peninsula can
\nhave their dignity and life respected and so that they can lead a happy life,
\nwhich will ultimately lead to a happy country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
