The announcement suggests there is room for discussion on the May 24th sanctions, leading<br \/>\nto further attention on how the North will respond. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Some speculate the sanctions will be discussed at the second<br \/>\nround of high-level talks between the two countries expected to take place at<br \/>\nthe end of this month or early November. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">However, the president did directly address the two recent<br \/>\nincidents with North Korea. \u201cWith a high-ranking delegation visiting<br \/>\nIncheon, and the following agreement to reopen talks, people in the South had<br \/>\nhopes of seeing an improvement in inter-Korean ties,\u201d she said. \u201cBut with the<br \/>\ntwo shootings at the Northern Limit Line [NLL, the de-facto maritime border<br \/>\nbetween the two Koreas] and at the truce line, once again tension has mounted.<br \/>\nInter-Korean relations up until now have always displayed such dual aspects.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The president also shared future goals and activities for<br \/>\nthe unification preparatory committee. \u25b2 Devise specific plans to build an<br \/>\necological peace park in the demilitarized zone [DMZ] \u25b2 prepare to draw up<br \/>\ncharter for peaceful unification \u25b2 push forward measures to improve the quality<br \/>\nof life for North Koreans \u25b2 engage with neighboring countries to achieve<br \/>\npeaceful unification on the Korean Peninsula.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">For construction of the DMZ peace park, President Park<br \/>\nemphasized, \u201cWe must start reviewing potential locations for the peace park and<br \/>\nactively help the North so that it can take part in jointly developing plans<br \/>\nfor the basic mapping out, clearing up of surrounding roads, and more.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In regards to creating a peaceful unification charter, she<br \/>\nordered members to \u201cwork on specific and realistic content, such as what people<br \/>\nwill need to do during the process of unification and what values and vision<br \/>\nshould be pursued after unification.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The president also spoke on improving the quality of lives<br \/>\nof North Koreans, saying, \u201cIn the case of the medical field, take things one<br \/>\nstep forward from existing aid of medical supplies, and come up with measures<br \/>\non providing a healthcare system that involves things like medical equipment<br \/>\nand facilities that can be reviewed.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South Korean President Park Geun Hye hinted on Monday during her second unification preparatory committee meeting that Seoul may be looking into easing or lifting the so-called May 24th sanctions against Pyongyang. \u201cThe South and North need to meet and engage in sincere dialogue to resolve the issue,\u201d the president said, referring to the sanctions [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":140,"featured_media":28668,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[67],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-28666","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.7 (Yoast SEO v28.6) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-premium-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>SK Pres.
