The South Korean government is pressing forward with planned deliveries of flood aid to south and western regions of North Korea despite the absence of a North Korean response to the plan.<\/p>\n
A Ministry of Unification official revealed the latest situation this morning, explaining, \u201cNorth Korea has yet to offer any response to our flood aid, but we are moving forward with concrete preparations for the aid. Simply put, this is emergency aid, and so we are proceeding according to the plan.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cThere has not been a North Korean response, but we adjudge that this does not denote a rejection. Hereafter, we will contact North Korea about the flood aid and consult with them naturally,\u201d the official added.<\/p>\n
All being well, it is anticipated that the aid will mostly be delivered during the first part of September. According to South Korean plans, it will be constituted of 1.4 million units of high protein food, 300,000 units of snacks, 1.92 million \u2018Choco Pies\u2019 and 1.6 million units of instant noodles, but, as previously reported, does not include rice, wheat flour or building materials. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
