Twenty-five million citizens live under conditions of extreme oppression, poverty, and violence. Helping them has become one of the defining responsibilities of our time. Lasting peace on the Korean peninsula will require eliminating the nuclear threat \u2014 and that can only happen if fundamental change comes to North Korea itself.<\/h5>\n<h5 class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-&#091;1.7&#093;\">We have also watched something remarkable: the rapid spread of market activity that is quietly reshaping North Korean society. More and more, ordinary people are catching glimpses of the outside world through foreign media finding its way across the border. Something is shifting.<\/h5>\n<h5 class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-&#091;1.7&#093;\">To capture and amplify that shift, Daily NK supports a network of dedicated reporters inside the country who risk their lives every day to share what they know.
