Summer Rains Stuck over Korean Peninsula

[imText1]Central regions of North Korea will receive heavy seasonal rainfall throughout this week, according to South Korean satellite predictions. Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA), the South Korean state weather agency, forecasts that a weather front currently hovering north of the 38th parallel will continue to provide prolonged periods of inclement summer weather.

KMA asserted that up to 30mm of rain fell hourly in some areas through the 14th. The rains were accompanied by gusty winds, thunder and lighting.

On the 13th, North Korea’s own Chosun Central News Agency (KCNA) spoke of heavy rains in Pyongyang, Pyongsung, Sinuiju, Sariwon and Hamheung. The report noted that rain would fall overnight in Wonsan, Hyesan, Kanggye and Haeju.
