China, U.S. Wrap Up “Productive” Talks on North Korea

United States Special Representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies
and China’s Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs Wu Dawei have
concluded a “productive” second day of talks on the North Korean nuclear issue.

“The United States
and China agree on the fundamental importance of a denuclearized North
Korea,” the U.S. State Department announced on the 15th,
adding that items on the agenda included a potential restart of the six-party talks as well as details of Wu’s recent trip to North Korea.

The meetings are part of a
series of high-level U.S.-China talks aimed at finding a peaceful solution to
North Korea’s nuclear program.

Both Wu and Davies are expected to meet on the 17th
in Washington D.C. for further discussion.
