In Pictures: Pyongyang Construction

Of late, a great many articles have been written about construction in Pyongyang, where the North Korean regime has been pouring its resources into changing the skyline in preparation for 2012, when the nation will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Kim Il Sung’s birth and hopes, at least in the showpiece capital city, to give the impression of a strong and prosperous state.

In an effort to accomplish these aims, the regime has reportedly closed universities in order to inject students into the construction work alongside members of the Chosun People’s Army. Inside sources allege that there have been many accidents as inexperienced workers are pushed to finish on time.

Now, The Daily NK has obtained some photos of the construction work taken in the first half of September, to better show the state of central Pyongyang.
