Former NBA star Dennis Rodman did not meet with Kim Jong Eun during his most recent visit to North Korea.
Rodman arrived in the North on December 19th and is scheduled to return home today. This was his third trip this year.
During a press interview on December 22nd, Rodman revealed that he had yet to meet with Kim Jong Eun, but that his plans to return for Kim’s upcoming birthday celebrations remain intact.
“I’m not just coming over here to meet the leader. I came over here to meet the basketball team, to prepare a great game for the leader for his birthday. And people need to understand that it’s not important for me to meet him every time I come over,” Rodman said.
An exhibition game between twelve former NBA stars and local athletes is scheduled for January 8th, the birthday of Kim Jong Eun. Rodman has yet to reveal the names of the American side, and admits that some have expressed reluctance in travelling to the secretive state.
