Operations at the Kaesong Industrial Complex have recovered to pre-shutdown levels, the Ministry of Unification announced on the 9th.
Overall production totaled 35.2 million USD in December 2013,
94% of the output reached in December of the previous year.
All but one of the 123 enterprises currently involved with the complex have returned to full operations, it was further revealed. Additionally,
North Korean personnel employed at the site now number 52,000, only 1000
less personnel than the pre-shutdown total.
The ministry remains positive it will see through full normalization
of the complex, including ironing out outstanding issues pertaining to passage,
communications and customs between North and South.
Last December, a radio-frequency identification system was
implemented on a trial basis to allow for greater ease of access both into and out
of the complex.
