Commodity prices up, exchange rate down

Since the last market update, Daily NK’s sources have reported a slight rise in commodity prices and drop in exchange rate dropped, in line with trends for the same period last year.
One kilogram of rice cost 5,250 KPW in Pyongyang, 5,360 KPW in Sinuiju, and 5,500 KPW in Hyesan. A kg of corn [kernels] cost 1,380 KPW in Pyongyang, 1,250 KPW in Sinuiju, and 1,300 KPW in Hyesan. 

The dollar exchange rate was 8,212 KPW in Pyongyang, 8,260 KPW in Sinuiju and 8,285 in Hyesan. The yuan exchange rate dipped to 1,250 KPW in Pyongyang, 1,200 in Sinuiju, and 1,205 KPW in Hyesan. 

Pork prices per kilogram rose slightly, to 10,700 KPW in Pyongyang, 10,500 KPW in Sinuiju, and 10,000 KPW in Hyesan. The price of gasoline rose slightly in Pyongyang and Sinuiju, fetching 6,500 KPW and 7,200 KPW, respectively. In Hyesan, however, the cost of gasoline dropped to 7,550 KPW in Hyesan. Diesel prices dropped to 4,500 KPW per kilogram in Pyongyang, but remained unchanged at 5,500 KPW in Sinuiju and Hyesan.
