China provides 10,000 tons of heavy oil as aid to N. Korea

China recently supplied 10,000 tons of heavy fuel oil to North Korea to mark the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the North’s ruling Workers’ Party, a Chinese shipping company said Wednesday on its website.

The Chinese oil aid was revealed after the company said that the North Korean embassy in Beijing had sent a letter of thanks to the company for successfully delivering the Chinese heavy fuel oil to the North.

In the letter, the North Korean embassy expressed its government’s thanks to the company, praising its five years of transporting heavy fuel and aviation oil donated by the Chinese government to the North.

Two oil tankers arrived in Songrim port, North Hwanghae Province, North Korea, on Oct. 10 and 11, respectively, to deliver the aid, the company said.
