Gwangmyong to Hold Unification Marathon

Ahead of the upcoming Pyongyang Marathon scheduled to open on April 12th, South Korea has called on runners to show their interest in and support for unification through a sports competition. Organized by KTX, Korea’s high-speed rail system, the “2015 KTX Unification National Marathon
of Gwangmyong” will take place on April 5th.

Regarding the event, a KTX official stated, “Through the Unification Marathon, we want
to show the development of Gwangmyong City. Moreover, we want people to
consider Gwangmyong KTX station the ‘symbol station’ of a united Korea—a direct
link from the Korean Peninsula to China, Russia, and Europe in the era of
unification.”

Starting from 8:30a.m., the marathon offers
three different courses: half-marathon, 10 km and 5 km. Those who wish to
compete in the race or volunteer at the event should register here by March 25th. More information is available on the event website or by calling 2680-6750.
