NK Vows to Adhere to Byungjin Line, Slams U.S.

North Korea underscored its determination
to build a strong socialist country based on independent “
nuclear deterrence” through its Party-run
publication Rodong Sinmun on Tuesday.

In an article entitled, DPRK [North Korea] Will Surely Achieve Final Victory in Showdown
with U.S.,
the North said, Washington
employed the whole gamut of base and impudent methods against the DPRK, only
forcing the latter to bolster up its war deterrence for self-defense a thousand
fold.
”

It also claimed, The
U.S. and its followers have been viciously speaking ill of songun politics and
its dual policy of nuclear and economic development [Byungjin Line], trying its
best to damage the Party
s dignity and authority. The publication declared that this will not affect the Norths policies, stating, No matter how the
international situation and the structure of relations with its surrounding
countries may change, the DPRK will consistently adhere to the songun politics
and the line of promoting the two fronts simultaneously.
”

Going on with its litany of criticism against the U.S., the publication moved on to reference the annual joint
military drills Washington carries out with Seoul, denouncing the U.S.
as thwarting efforts to improve inter-Korean relations.
Even when we have been open to amicable agreements on the issue of
family unions for separated families, more so than expected by the South, the
U.S. has deliberately brought down a barrier between North-South relations,
it asserted.

The article also claimed, having discovered
it will not be able to force the North to give up its nuclear program first,
Washington has used the issue of human rights to tarnish Pyongyang
s image and pressure the country internationally. It referred to this
as
a ploy to bring down our socialist system.”

The piece concluded by condemning the U.S.
for using
some of its European allies and Japan to
bring forward a
commission
led by all kinds of human scum at the UN Human Rights Council to formally
handle our
human rights issues,’” and accused it of creating a fabricated
human rights resolution.
