North Korean Fishing Boat Crosses NLL

A North Korean fishing boat crossed the
Northern Limit Line [NLL] near Yeonpyeong Island in the West Sea on August 12 and
retreated following warning shots fired by the South, the ROK Joint Chiefs of
Staff  [ROKJCS] reported.

An official from the ROKJCS stated , “A North
Korean fishing boat violated the NLL by 900m at 11:23A.M. and our high speed
boats mobilized immediately to fire four warning shots. The vessel did not
retreat immediately, so we fired an additional two shots with a 76mm naval gun.”

The North Korean fishing boat retreated
back to the NLL at 11:41 A.M. , during which  navy officials reported no other noticeable movements by the North.
