A report has surfaced in Chinese media alleging that a special training session to prepare staff in the event of an assassination attempt on Kim Jong Eun took place in Pyongyang on March 15th.

Quoting sources from Jagang Province and North Pyongan Province, the Global Times claimed that the training session was attended by high-ranking cadres from the military, State Security Department and other central state organs.

“The training took place with the purpose of learning how to defend the leader (Kim Jong Eun) from hostile powers in an emergency situation,” it was written.

Both sources believe the event was the first of its kind in North Korea, but admitted it was not unusual for countries to conduct training sessions to protect their head of state.

The report comes in the wake of a piece published in UK daily the Telegraph on the 2^nd  in which a defector claimed he personally knew of two assassination attempts on former leader Kim Jong Il and another two coup d'etats.

Both accounts are as yet unverified.
