On July 9th, 2011, Chongryon (Association of North Korean Residents in Japan) held a meeting of its central committee during which it passed a resolution in support of the succession of Kim Jong Eun, then more than five months from coming to fruition.

Filmed in order to show Pyongyang the degree of Chongryon’s loyalty, the meeting was held behind closed doors and a 13-minute edited clip subsequently sent to the North Korean authorities in October, according to information received by ‘Rescue the North Korean People! Urgent Action Network’ (RENK), a Japanese human rights NGO which obtained and made the video public on January 10th.
